An introduction to being an Indigo Volunteer:
The following text provides a brief outline of where our organization is and what you may anticipate as a volunteer:
Indigo Youth Movement is our non-profit organization, which has been formed from the work of Indigo Skate Camp. After eight years of ground work we have refined our after school day care activities at camp, and stand now prepared to delegate responsibilities to capable volunteers. Our children are most beautiful, humble and hungry for your guidance. We are sure you will enjoy your enlightening interaction with the Zulu children aged between 5 and 15.
The headquarters of Indigo Youth Movement have recently moved to an old Victorian home in Morningside in an effort to expand our operations to increase the flow of visitors and volunteers to skate camp. Situated two blocks from Florida Rd, we are comfortably within Durban’s playground. Our volunteers are to take residence in this Indigo Home with the option of private rooms or shared rooms (note we have a strict no bunk beds policy).
We feel that establishing ourselves within Durban will strengthen our potential for growth in our primary area for development, being Indigo Skate Camp, which is only 40 minutes drive from our home. We believe our volunteers need a balance of rural and urban experiences to take in all there is within this fascinating city of cultural diversity.
A typical day as a volunteer would be something like this:
8am Breakfast in our home on the balcony under the lychee trees
9am Group meeting to discuss day’s game plan
10am Volunteers to assist with preparing lunch and to make preparations for the days lessons
1pm Lunch is served

4pm Food and fresh fruit juice is served
4:15pm Children are split into groups according to age / learning ability and convene in designated areas for instruction from Indigo coaches / volunteers.
